Patient Rights and Responsibilities 


Responsibilities

  1. General Responsibilities
    1.1. Take all necessary measures for your own health and follow advice for a healthy life.
    1.2. Give blood or donate organs if eligible.
    1.3. Manage basic self-care when possible.

  2. Social Security Status
    2.1. Report changes in health, social security, and personal information promptly.
    2.2. Ensure your health card (Bağ-Kur, Green Card, etc.) is valid and up to date.

  3. Informing Healthcare Workers 
    3.1. Provide complete and accurate information on your complaints, past illnesses, prior treatments, current medications, and overall health.

  4. Following Hospital Rules 
    4.1. Comply with hospital rules and procedures.
    4.2. Follow the referral chain set by the Ministry of Health or other social security institutions.
    4.3. Cooperate with healthcare workers during treatment, care, and rehabilitation.
    4.4. Attend scheduled appointments and notify the hospital of changes.
    4.5. Respect the rights of hospital staff, other patients, and visitors.
    4.6. Compensate for any damages caused to hospital property.

  5. Following Treatment Advice
    5.1. Listen carefully to treatment and medication instructions and ask questions if unclear.
    5.2. Inform healthcare workers if you cannot follow treatment advice.
    5.3. Confirm understanding of post-treatment or discharge care plans.
    5.4. Accept responsibility for consequences if treatment is refused or advice not followed.


Rights

Based on the Patient Rights Regulation (Official Gazette: 01.08.1998 / 23420)

  1. Access to Services

    • Right to receive healthcare fairly, without discrimination based on race, language, religion, gender, philosophy, or social/economic status.

  2. Information and Inquiry

    • Right to know about all healthcare services and facilities, and request information about your health, verbally or in writing.

  3. Choosing Healthcare Facility and Personnel

    • Right to select or change healthcare facilities and use services, and to know the identity, duties, and titles of healthcare providers.

  4. Privacy 

    • Right to receive healthcare in a confidential environment.

  5. Consent, Refusal, and Stopping Treatment 

    • Right to refuse treatment, request cessation, give consent for medical interventions, and use services under informed consent.

  6. Safety

    • Right to receive healthcare in a safe environment.

  7. Religious Practice

    • Right to practice religious duties as permitted by hospital facilities and administrative measures.

  8. Respect, Dignity, and Comfort

    • Right to respectful, compassionate, and hygienic healthcare in a calm environment free of disturbance.

  9. Visitors and Companions 

    • Right to have visitors and companions according to hospital rules and physician approval.

  10. Complaints and Legal Rights

  • Right to file complaints, appeals, or lawsuits if rights are violated, in accordance with regulations.
