WHAT IS A MIDWIFE CLINIC?
The Midwife Clinic is a primary healthcare service area where midwives provide counseling to pregnant women and new mothers during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. It introduces them to comfortable childbirth options and provides information and guidance about prenatal school programs. By enhancing communication between the midwife and the mother/expectant mother, the clinic aims to broaden mothers’ perspectives on delivery rooms. It helps mothers/expectant mothers take a more confident, informed, and active role during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, with the midwife acting as their closest supporter.
Purpose of the Midwife Clinic:
The goal is to provide individualized and supportive care during pregnancy and childbirth based on evidence-based approaches, respecting the uniqueness of each birth, and ensuring that the pregnant woman experiences a comfortable and positive labor.
Key objectives include:
Supporting positive pregnancy experiences during antenatal care and labor, as recommended by the World Health Organization.
Encouraging active participation in prenatal school programs, thereby increasing knowledge about pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.
Enhancing the pregnant woman’s preparedness through education provided by the Prenatal School, Midwife Clinic, and physicians, enabling her to learn about her roles during labor (pain management, pushing exercises, perineal massage, etc.) and acquire competence for the postpartum period (including breastfeeding).
Supporting the development of self-perception and self-confidence during pregnancy.
Assisting in risk awareness and creating action plans for risk management during pregnancy.
Promoting individualized supportive care during labor through collaboration between the midwife and the pregnant woman.
Providing guidance and support in choosing a birth companion.
Supporting postpartum care, thereby positively influencing breastfeeding rates and maternal health.
Positively motivating the mother for childbirth and contributing to increasing the national birth rate.
Increasing trust in the healthcare team and institution.
